Extreme Makeover: The Greatest Gift

Extreme! Now! I want to be Different!

These are things I hear and see on tv with all the makeover shows. Very few people will take the time to work to achieve a goal. We want it now and make it easy.

As I was reading the lesson in the book this week, the idea of the Greatest Gift fit in with this. It got me thinking about the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition I watched on Sunday night. How this very deserving family, that was extremely down on their luck, had a group of saviors come in and fix their house. By fixing this one thing it allowed them to change their entire life around.

The Gift was given, but the work still remains. They have to develop new habits in order to keep their house clean and looking new. This to me compares to the Gift God gave me of salvation and a changed life. However, the work remains. I have to develop new habits to help myself grow. No one can take away my gift, but I can sure make it look like I never received it.

This gift is Extreme, and is easily accepted, so what can we do to keep it looking good?

Following Jesus?

Why do you think walking in the footsteps of God is hard to do? What stops us from finishing the race as strong as we start it?

I have to say that I simply lack discipline. I think that goes with the self-control thing from the last question. I mean I tend to take the easy way out of certain things, or I just plain get lazy. I need to dvelop the stamina to continnue my studies and walk with God. I think that is why it is hard, so that we can develop the strength to continue on.

The Next Chapter

Okay everyone,

I hope you can find time to answer this question.

Which fruit of the Spirit could you use more of and why?

For me I think I could use some more self-control.

I guess that is partly due to my A.D.D. but I cant blame it for everything. Self-control can help me in those times when things get out of control. Self-control will help to rely more heavily on God everyday. It's basically discipline.

So what are your thoughts?
